It's always a risky move for a band to go on without a founding member. KK Downing's violent and emotional guitar work had been a foundation of Judas Priest for 40 years. Yet off the heels of the disappointing 2008 Nostradamus release, as w

Pokemon X and Y Review
Since I was a kid, I wanted a full-3D Pokemon game. Me and everyone I knew. We wanted to battle our hard-earned Pokemon in realistic environments, not see static images that represents our monsters. And while we kinda got that wish with Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD, it still wasn't exactly what we wanted, since neither game was a full Pokemon experience. But lo and behold, almost 10 years after the fact, and almost 20 years since the series began, we finally got the 3D Pokemon experience.
In the beginning, you move to the region of Kalos, a country heavily based on France. You and your friends pick a Pokemon, and aid Professor Sy

"There's many of us who enjoy video games that aren't very good, but have something likable and cheesy about them that makes 'em so much damn fun."

Today, fighting games with over-the-top characters and spectacular moves are common place. It all started with the titles Killer Instinct and Kasumi Ninja, both of which were inspired by the Mortal Kombat series and the fighting game craze of the mid-1990s. But there's one title that tends to get overlooked that fits in perfectly with these two games, and that's 1994's Cosmic Carnage. Released in Japan as "Cyber Brawl," (which can be accessed in the US versio

Arcade games aren't like they used to be. Gone are the days where no two cabinets were alike in style, where each game, no matter if it shared the same genre with other games or not, felt like a completely unique experience. Games like Q-bert, Robotron 2084, and BurgerTime never had equals in terms of look and feel. Another such game, Space Harrier, stands among them in this way.
Released by Sega in arcades around the world in 1985, Space Harrier was an innovative space shooter, as well as one of the first 16-bit games ever released. Instead of flying around outer space in a ship, blowing up meteors or other ships, you fly around the

Sega 32x Gems #2: Shadow Squadron
The 3D Space Simulation genre of video games started in 1983, with Atari's wonderful arcade release of Star Wars. Since then, the genre has captured the hearts and imaginations of gamers everywhere, since being a dogfighter in outer space is something we'll never otherwise experience. Games like the wonderful X-Wing/TIE Fighter and Rouge Squadron series, as well as non-Star Wars games like Star Fox and Wing Commander, have become legendary in their own right. One such space simulator has not been properly recognized.
Released in Japan in 1995 as "Stellar Assault," Shadow Squadron puts you in control of one of two ships, each with com
The Sega 32x is infamous in the gaming community. It's been called, among other things, the Sega Genesis's "life support," a hideous monstrosity of a console add-on, and most popularly, a non-working piece of shit. But being the proud owner of the add-on, I can say it's none of those things (well, okay, it was the Genesis's life support). After spending time with it, it's become one of my favorite accessories of all-time.
The Sega 32x is a host to a handful of classic gems that still play wonderfully today, and in the coming weeks, I'll be reviewing all of them. Games like Virtua Racing, Shadow Squadron, Cosmic Carnage, Tempo, Space Harrier,

Bioshock Infinite review
These days, it feels as if all first person shooters are a bit too similar. You're either in a branch of the military, or you're shooting off supernatural forces. It's not often you see an innovative first person shooter, but like Goldeneye, Metroid Prime, or Borderlands, it's always special when a new one comes out and stands out among the rest. Bioshock Infinite is no exception.
You play as Detective Booker Dewitt, a widower from the 1910s that is down on his luck. You are sent by an unknown agency to retrieve the dimensional-rifting girl Elizabeth from captivity in the floating city of Colombia. The city is very reminiscent of Main Street
